Ongoing projects and Summer fun.
WHAT’S UP (OR DOWN)
Well, they promised us hot days and ‘they’ delivered. Into the 30’s all this past week and no sign of letting up for a while. We don’t have AC but our house stays relatively cool. The teenagers are lined up to jump off the bridge into the cool river downtown. Every time I go by I’m temped to join them! 😊 But will wait for the grandkids to come and find an easier spot to access the cool water.
Air is smoky today, from wildfires in BC. The smell and hazy air remind me to pray.

Teaching:
I’m doing two 4 & 5 day writing camps in August – one in poetry – (August 12-14 - $80.) and one in flash fiction (August 19-23 - $100.)

Writing:
Pond’rings – a writer’s memoir. I’m on the 3rd revision now. Had the manuscript spread all over the dining table the other day, with post-it notes all over the pages. Sorting out what goes where makes my head ache a bit but it’s getting there. 😉 We (my publisher and editor) have agreed to not put too much pressure on ourselves to get this done by end of September, in time for the InScribe writer’s conference. I’m greatly relieved at that, especially since summertime events (see below) are just too good to say no to.  We will do pre-sales at the conference, and I’ll let everyone know when that’s available.
Speaking:
Spoke to the coordinator of a Christian Women’s Club in Saskatoon recently. I spoke there about a year ago and she asked if I’d be able/willing to come back in October. Hoping/praying the weather will cooperate.
Still revising the banquet address for the InScribe Conference in September. Â I so appreciate your prayers. Keep them flowing! Â
Lollygagging:
It was a joy to attend my granddaughter’s 5th birthday party last Saturday. So fun to watch the kids have fun with hardly a squabble. And of course there was cake.
Little guy got in on the action too and found a couple of buddies to race cars with. 😊
He also had a very serious discussion with Grandpa. 😉
Notice the dome in the background? It took 3 tries (taking it completely apart each time!) but Grandpa, Laura and Ty got it put together in time for the party. The kids loved it. 😊
Had a beautiful sunny day drive up into the Kananaskis recently and just when we decided to turn back this mama Grizzly sauntered out of the bush with her 3 cubs. The mama and two biggest babies climbed over the guardrail and waited while # 3 struggled to get over it. Got a video of the group as they trotted across the road. SO cool to see them.
And the mountain florawere lovely too.
